Art Works for Business launched both its agenda for this year and its new interactive web site in front of an audience of artists, businesses and local government on 12th February 2009. The AWB coordinator, Laura Boswell, was delighted to inform the audience of the promising partnerships happening throughout all the four districts of Aylesbury Vale, Chiltern, South Bucks and Wycombe this year, including residencies and exhibitions. She also introduced the new website: an on-line portfolio for artists, a promotional tool for AWB and a resource for local business, education and community groups.
Two speakers represented the ongoing work of AWB: artist Lynda Cornwell spoke about her residency at Pinewood and the exciting plans for two large scale artworks on site. David Quinton, Marketing Manager for John Lewis High Wycombe, spoke about his developing relationship with AWB and the thirteen artists who will be enjoying the opportunity to demonstrate and discuss their work at the John Lewis Store throughout the year.
The event was an undoubted success and served to highlight the opportunities for the development of further creative and innovative partnerships between artists and businesses. The launch, and the website itself, both received very favourable reviews by those who attended, and the event culminated with an extended period of networking where interested parties were able to discuss new projects and concepts, as well as talking to those directly involved with the AWB scheme.
